Did you know ISO standards are evolving to incorporate climate change considerations?
ISO, the International Organization for Standardization has taken into consideration the concerns of climate change, its impact Globally, and incorporated climate change considerations in several core management system standards. These changes are vital to ensure that emphasis is placed on the addressing the impact and effects of climate change and the criticality of doing so.
What are the changes?
ISO has introduced two key changes within Clause 4:
Clause 4.1
Clause 4.1, now includes the addition of the statement “The organisation shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.”
Clause 4.2
Clause 4.2, now includes a statement and consideration under “Note: Relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change.”
This now allows for key considerations for climate change across internal and external issues and the organization interested parties.
