ISO 14068-1 Training Course Climate change management — Transition to net zero – Part 1: Carbon neutrality Overview
Is your organization looking to start on its carbon neutral journey, to enable you to confidently claim carbon neutral status without fears of being accused of greenwashing, or not counting some of your major emissions? Then our ISO 14068-1 Overview Course might just be what you need to be able to implement the principles, requirements, and guidance for achieving and demonstrating carbon neutrality.
ISO 14068-1 Training Course focuses on quantifying, reducing, and offsetting carbon footprints, utilizing a hierarchical approach prioritizing direct and indirect GHG emission reductions and removal enhancements within the value chain over offsetting. This means that we actually measure and consider reducing our carbon emissions, prior to offsetting what is left, and also considers what offsetting projects we may choose to use.
Unlike many other ISO standards, certification to ISO 14068-1 is not granted – but instead your data collection, reporting and claims for carbon neutrality are verified by an independent awarding body against the requirements of the standard and you can display a verified logo next to your Carbon Neutral status giving international recognition to what you have achieved and the method used to reach that achievement.
Intu Veritas can help your employees understand how to quantify your emissions, select offsets and produce a carbon report that meets all of the requirements of ISO 14068-1, and prepare for external verification with our ISO 14068-1 Overview training course.
Course overview:
Our overview course is designed to introduce your employees to the ISO 14068-1 standard, covering the basics including:
- Why use ISO 14068-1?
- What is a greenhouse gas and CO2e anyway?
- Setting the scope and boundaries.
- Explanation of scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
- Obtaining the data.
- Methods of extrapolation or averaging data.
- CO2e conversion factors and where to find them .
- Offsets – do we need them? Which ones?
- Producing the report.
- Verification of our Carbon Neutral status.
Our overview training course gives employees who will be involved in the collection and reporting of your GHG data knowledge of the requirements of the standard, and what is acceptable to estimate, extrapolate or average in the final report. We look at types of offsets, alignments with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and verification of our report and our carbon neutral status. It can also be a benefit to managers who are not directly involved with your Carbon Neutrality status to gain a better understanding of what it is and how it works.
Our team pride themselves on developing the understanding of the ISO standards with each candidate and the different levels of support they provide throughout the duration of training with each delegate, after all everyone is individual and we all learn in different ways. Our team understand this.
Our courses can be held onsite for our clients at any location in the UK or Worldwide. We also offer open courses at over ten public venues nationwide. We can even deliver courses remotely via Teams at times to suit your business needs.
